Woodchuck® Cellar Series Smoked Apple
October 25, 2013
Our latest cider straight from Woodchuck cellar is hitting shelves nationwide! Woodchuck Cellar Series Smoked Apple is a full-bodied deep amber cider featuring crisp apple notes and hints of vanilla on an applewood smoked backdrop. A well-balanced, limited run cider that is perfect for the cooler days ahead.
Woodchuck Cellar Series Smoked Apple was made with a little help from a fellow Vermont business. Vermont Smoke and Cure™ offered up their custom smokehouse and Cider Maker John Matson filled it with apple pomace.Apple pomace is the part of an apple that remains after it has been ground up and pressed for juice. We loaded the more than 2,000 pounds of pomace onto specially made trays and rolled them into the smokehouse. After the pomace was smoked using maple and applewood chips, it was brought to our Middlebury Cidery and loaded into the extraction tank.Fermented cider was run through the tank infusing it with crisp apple and smokey undertones. Then it was on to the bottling line! This is one of our most innovative ciders to date, and it has been a thrill to watch the bottles leave our backdoor headed for store shelves near you!It was great to partner with a Vermont Smoke and Cure™ on this project. Working with a Vermont neighbor to transform our ideas into reality proves just how resourceful this community is. As for the details:
