Welcome to our Woodchuck 30th Anniversary blog series where we will be highlighting hand-selected creatives every week through the Fall. This year marks our 30th Anniversary and we have asked 25 creatives from across the country to help celebrate 30 years of creativity and innovation by sharing with us what creativity means to them. We sat down with each creative to hear more about how they use creativity on a daily basis and what influences their work. See below for our conversation with Lonnie!
W- Whether it be photography, videography, digital design or some sort of craft, how did you get your start in your field?
L- I started capturing photos of the cocktails I loved to create!
W- That’s awesome! Mixing your hobbies with your professional life is something that a lot of people hope to achieve. With that being said, what tends to influence your creativity and the work you put out?
L- I like to say I am influenced by the seasons to be 100% honest. I love the change of colors and flavors and tend to lean into my creative side based on that.
W- On the beverage side of things, seasonality definitely has a huge influence. Surely you experience this quite a bit as a bartender. It has certainly influenced many of the ciders we have created in the past.
W- What does creativity mean to you?
L- I take creativity as being able to express myself through my cocktails, and my photography – it’s being able to express how I’m feeling, or what I’m thinking without the need for words. It’s a universal, unspoken language.
W- The idea of “expression without words” is something that is difficult to understand at times, yet is something that most of us find common ground on when it comes to defining creativity and what it means to us.
W- Lonnie, thanks for taking the time to chat with us today. Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience in helping us celebrate 30 years of creativity and innovation?
L- I am very excited to be a part of this Celebration and growing this relationship!
