Welcome to our Woodchuck 30th Anniversary blog series where we will be highlighting hand-selected creatives every week through the Fall. This year marks our 30th Anniversary and we have asked 25 creatives from across the country to help celebrate 30 years of creativity and innovation by sharing with us what creativity means to them. We sat down with each creative to hear more about how they use creativity on a daily basis and what influences their work. See below for our conversation with Tianna!
W- Whether it be photography, videography, digital design or some sort of craft, how did you get your start in your field?
T- I’m a painter, I work in oil paint and my focus is figurative/portraits. I attended a performing arts high school and studied all kinds of art, but painting was where I thrived. Being an artist became my sole practice earlier this year. Like most creatives, I was working a job that felt soul sucking and instead I wanted something that would set my soul on fire! Painting has always been that.
W- It’s awesome to hear you talk about how you’ve stayed true to yourself and ultimately made to decision to take on art as a full-time commitment. What tends to influence your creativity and the work you put out? Is it more-so derived intrinsically, or are you more heavily influenced by external factors and the people viewing your work?
T- I’m influenced most by the stories and history of the people around me. My latest work is all about connections to ancestry so where someone is from, their favorite memories, their family traditions – all of those things come through in my work.
W- Wow, so it’s almost like you use art and your paintings to tell those stories about lineage and peoples’ origins. Very cool. That’s a very creative take. With that said, what does creativity mean to you?
T- Creativity is everything to me personally. I’m a Sagittarius so freedom is of the utmost importance and being creative was and has always been where I can express the most freedom.
W- Prior to your involvement in our 30th Anniversary Celebration, what was your connection to/relationship with Woodchuck if any at all? Through your involvement with Woodchuck, was there anything you learned about us that resonated with you or that you can connect with personally?
T- I have a friend from Vermont that has mentioned Woodchuck before, but this was the first time I became acquainted with the brand. What resonates with me most is the sense of self that the brand embodies. Authenticity is like liquid gold now, so it’s imperative to do you!
W- Thanks for your kind words. We certainly take pride in staying true to who we are and not forgetting where we came from!
Tianna brought her own style to a painting of someone dancing with our Rosé cider, focusing on capturing motion, color and figure.
